Sarvia Elizabeth suffered a total of four broken bones while in the care of her mother Sarvia Velasquez & her mother's boyfriend Arnaldo Rodriguez before she was homicidally asphyxiated. Sarvia Police found after responding to a report of a child in medical distress. She was transported to the Alberta Children's Hospital but could not be resuscitated.Months later, testing showed Sarvia Elizabeth died of asphyxia, which can be induced by choking or smothering, and was not accidental. No charges have ever been laid.

Fearing the toddler was being neglected, or even worse, Sarvia Elizabeth’s grandparents desperately seeked help. Officers had been involved with the family in the months leading up to her death. If Elizabeth would have been taken away … she'd be alive today," Bruce Anderson Sarvia’s grandfather said. Sarvia’s grandparents were shocked to learn Velasquez is once again pregnant. "I just hope (Alberta's Ministry of Human Services) will look at this closely," said Bruce Anderson
