Randal Kadeem Dooley

Randell and his brother came to Canada from Jamaica in search of a better life. Unfortunately, for Randal his life was cut short instead.  On April 14, 1998, David Davidge the vice-principal of a Scarborough elementary school, called the Children's Aid Society. A boy in first frade had shown up with welts all over his arms and back. Five months after the call, seven year old Randal Dooley died anyway, he was battered and bruised by his father and stepmother. On the last night of Randal's life, his older eight year old brother Tego, lifted Randal's unconscious body from a tub full of cold water, lifted him over his shoulders, carried him to their shared bedroom, stripped off Randal's soaked pajamas, tucked him under a blanket and lay down alongside him. Sadly, only one of the boys woke up the next morning.

Randal was emaciated and weighed 42 pounds. His autopsy reported thirteen cracked ribs, a broken elbow, lacerated liver, four brain injuries, a tooth in his stomach, more than a hundred bruises and lacerations. Two medical experts testified at trial that Randal died of a recent subdural hematoma, caused by shaking, blunt force impact, or shaking and blunt impact in combination. The doctors agreed that death was not due to the fall from his bunk bed that Randal also suffered that night. The boy's father, Tony Dooley and stepmother, Marcia Dooley, were sentenced to life in prison
