Three year old Porchia Bennett was starved, whipped and smothered. Porchia was discovered in a filthy room at the back of a rowhouse held with three other little girls: her sisters, each bearing her own scars and each a witness to the last savage acts that killed Porchia. Porchia was bashed against a radiator, whipped with a belt and extension cord, and wedged between a wall and a mattress. The reason because Chambers caught her watching him and Geiger having sex. 

 

Porchia and her sisters had been left with Candice Geiger and her boyfriend sometime in 2002 by their mother, Tiffany Bennett. Bennett had been under Human Services supervision on and off since 1994, when an older daughter ended up in an intensive care unit, the victim of shaken baby syndrome. In May 1999, Bennett left a Salvation Army shelter with two of her daughters. The next year the department was unable to locate her and closed the case. Two months later, Porchia was born.

 

Bennett, Geiger and Chambers will be tried together. Candice Geiger was convicted of third degree murder for her part in the beatings. She was also convicted of conspiracy and endangering the welfare of the children, she is facing 48 to 96 years in prison for her part in the death and abuse of these children. Candice was sentenced to 17 to 34 years in prison.  Chambers is charged with first degree murder, rape, sexual assault and related offenses. He has testified that he has bipolar disorder. Jerry Chambers was sentenced to death for what he did to Porchia and 73 to 146 years for what he did to her sisters. Tiffany Bennett was convicted on four counts of felony conspiracy and endangering the welfare of children and she is facing 28 to 56 years in prison.
