A seven year old girl jump from a two story bedroom window in order to save her life. She was found by her neighbors was found half naked and covered in blood after escaping from her home. She had infected sores, lesions and injuries on her feet and knees as well as scars on her neck. Police were called a search of the home this child had been living in revealed the reason she felt she had to jump that day on September 27, 2008.

Police found two more children in the home both girls and both dead. Minnet and Jasmine Bowman had both been adopted by Renee and along with their surviving sister, had been abused horribly. These three girls were beaten every day and at times, they were locked into a room where they had only a bucket to use as a toilet, they were underfed as well. After the seven year old child jumped out of the window, Police found the bodies of two girls in a freezer inside the home. An autopsy revealed Jasmine “suffered broken bones on the arms and hand prior to her death”. Minnet suffered lacerations to her scalp. A medical examiner determined both girls died as a result of asphyxiation and it was thought that they had been in the freezer for at least a year.

Police said Bowman’s live in boyfriend Joe Cephus Dickerson, told them that Jasmine went missing from her Rockville, Maryland home just after Mother’s Day in 2006, and Minnet disappeared about a month later. When he would ask Bowman where the girls were, he said Bowman told him they were living in another state with a friend. The seven year old told police that Bowman “beat and choked her sisters,” and they were already gone by the time they moved to Lusby.

Renee Bowman was arrested and charged with attempted murder for the child who had jumped out of the window. Renee was also charged with murder in the death of Minnet and Jasmine. Renee told Police that one of the children had died from being staved and the other had fallen and died from that fall. Renee was charged with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of child abuse resulting in death and one count of child abuse in the case of the child who survived. Bowman was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to abusing the surviving child and to double life sentences without parole, plus an extra 75 years for Minnet and Jasmine’s death.
