Madison Ann Cundiff

Sarah Taylor called 911 on May 6, 2007 to alert paramedics to the fact that her boyfriend's two year old daughter Madison was unresponsive and unconscious after fallen down the stairs. However, Sarah didn't call 911 right away, she first called her friend who lived in another town. Miranda told Sarah to call 911, but she didn't. Sarah called Madison's father David Cundiff who said he was on his way. A few minutes later, Sarah called David back and asked if she should call 911 and David said yes, so Sarah finally called 911.

Madison was taken to UK Hospital where doctors intubated her in order to help her breath better. A CT scan was ordered, Madison appeared to be suffering from severe head trauma and her brain was swelling. Doctor's did everything they could to reduce the swelling and during this time, Madison never opened her eyes and continued to be unresponsive. Madison stated having seizures and it was discovered that she had retinal hemorrhaging in both of her eyes and the CT scan showed bleeding in and around her brain, in several places.

Madison’s father, David said Taylor called to tell him Madison fell down the stairs while Taylor was doing laundry. She says Madison started crying so she took her to the couch to check her out. Taylor says at that point, Madison passed out. The autopsy revealed Madison's injuries were not consistent with an accidental fall. Her injuries were intentional and consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome. Madison's injuries had been caused by multiple blows to her head and they weren’t consistent with falling down the stairs. Sarah was indicted on a single charge of murder. Sarah was found guilty of reckless homicide and sentenced to five years in prison. I am so tired of our justice system letting child abuses getting away with murder. Madison lost her life and Sarah got a whole five years in prison for doing so.
