On September 6th Kevin Diaz was taking care of two year old Maddilynn while her mother Patricia McCarthy was at work. That afternoon, Diaz called Patricia at work to let her know that Maddilynn had slipped and fallen in the tub. Maddilynn's mother returned home, and after finding her daughter unconscious called police. When police arrived they found McCarthy visibly upset and Maddilynn lying unconscious on the floor. Maddilynn had bruises all over her body and trauma to her head. She was transported to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

 

Both Diaz and McCarthy were questioned by police. While being questioned, police say Diaz admitted to pushing Maddilynn into a bathtub about ten times trying to clean her after she soiled herself numerous times. He is facing child abuse resulting in death charges, which is a class 2 felony.In photos, Maddilynn appears to be a happy child, but a daycare worker tells us she noticed signs of abuse since May and had been reporting it. Daycare workers say they made several attempts to contact the Department of Human Services before Maddilynn’s tragic death.

 Diaz is wanted for child abuse resulting in death. The last I can find Diaz is still on the run and has not been found.
