Ja’Zirah’s father told police he saw Dickson beat their daughter Ja'Zirah Rodgers with an extension cord and slap her face until her nose and mouth were bleeding. The father claims Dickson threw him out of her apartment when he tried to intervene. When he returned later that night, he said Dickson told him Ja'Zirah was with Children and Youth Services. On January 8th the father said he called Children and Youth services and the agency did not have Ja'Zirah. The child protection agency investigated for two weeks before they reported Ja'Zirah missing to Lancaster police on January 22.

 

Dickson was arrested the following day and told investigators that she abused the Ja'Zirah until she stopped breathing, she then wrapped her body in a deflated air mattress, and placed her in the trash in early January. Ja'Zirah’s body has not been found.

 

Shondraya Dickson was charged with homicide, abuse of a corpse, endangering a child, assault and obstructing a child abuse report. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3, 2015
