Jovanni Tufele was at home, carrying his daughter from the attic downstairs, and hit Jayden's head against the wall twice she would not stop crying. Tufele shook her until she stopped, he then put Jayden back in her crib. She began to vomit and moan and would not wake up.

 

Jayden was brought by her parents to Resurrection Medical Center and was transferred to Children's Memorial Hospital after Jayden was having trouble breathing, she died the next day. Tufele was arrested after his daughter was hospitalized. Jayden suffered from bleeding on her brain, retinal hemorrhages and fractures to her ribs. Doctors also noted two older rib fractures that were healing. 

 

The medical examiner's office found that Jayden had suffered 14 rib fractures, three of them recently. A newly fractured clavicle and brain hemorrhage. Tufele admitted squeezing his daughter a couple of times a month before until he heard bones cracking.
