Abuse Angels
Commited to the end of child abuse. . .
Iyanna Perez
Iyanna's life started off rough, she born behind bars to a drug addicted mother. Her mother, Selena Olson, had assault, criminal impersonation, theft and drug convictions. Iyana’s father, Ted “Chewy” Perez, was a convicted child molester with numerous assault-, drug- and theft-related convictions. After determining the parents could not care for Iyana, Pueblo County’s Department of Social Services stepped in and placed Iyana in the care of her grandmother, Snowie Buehler, a recovering addict. Snowie was already caring for Selena’s two older children. Three weeks later, Iyana was found dead in a dumpster.
Iyana’s grandmother, Snowie Buehler, was supposed to provide a safe place for Iyana. Snowie made a fatal mistake when she left Iyana with her 19 year old son Daniel . She needed to work the next morning and her regular babysitter was unavailable. She was aware that Iyana’s stepcousin Kevin Buehler, was staying at Daniel’s residence, but because she had seen him interact with Iyana before, she wasn’t too concerned. Kevin at the time, who was on probation after an assault conviction for choking his sister.
It is believed that sometime later that evening, Daniel placed Iyana in Kevin’s bed, and well, she just disappeared. At about 9:50 the morning, police received a call from Daniel’s residence reporting that Iyana had been kidnapped sometime after 4:00 a.m. Hours later, Iyana was found, wrapped in plastic bags, in a dumpster behind a grocery store less than 200 feet from Daniel’s trailer. Kevin Buehler killed Iyana that night and dumped her bruised body in a trash bin behind a Safeway store.
Buehler said Iyana had swallowed lotion and cologne and was unconscious. He said he attempted CPR, but she wouldn't wake up so he took her body to the dumpsters behind Safeway. Sheriff's deputies didn't believe Iyana's death was an accident because Buehler never notified emergency personnel and tried to cover up her death. Autopsy results indicate Iyana died of a closed brain injury, or brain hemorrhaging. Buehler was charged with child abuse resulting in death. Buehler pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 32 years in prison.
