Aiyanna May Thompson
Tyson Reliford was babysitting three year old Aiyanna and her five year old brother when Tessa Thompson, received a phone call at work saying that her daughter had been injured. When she arrived home she took Aiyanna to an Urgent Care Facility and from there she was transferred to Nationwide Children's Hospital where it was apparent that Aiyanna this was not the first time she was abused. Aiyanna had severe bruising all over her body and she suffered a brain bleed from a blow to her head. Reliford was arrested, charged with felonious assault and held on a bond of $1 million. When Aiyanna died, the charged was upgraded to murder and Reliford 's bond was raised to $2 million.
Franklin County Children Services received a call on October 10th about physical abuse of a child or children in Thompson’s care and helped the mother connect with various social services. During the screening they determined that the child was not in immediate danger, and the mother agreed to work with the agency. The case was closed six weeks later on November 24.
